A Different Perspective
Most of the web sites that deal with 3D creation, editing, texturing and rendering do so from the same point of view. An expert, of more or less worth giving advice, help and guidance to the rest of the community. Some of these are good, some are very good and some are downright excellent. I'll be adding links to many of the better ones as the site grows.
This site however is different. I'm a beginner, an absolute newbie. As of now, (August 2006) I know nothing. It is my intention to stop messing around with 3D stuff and get to grips with it.
Please bookmark this page and check back often. The Glossary, the Tutorial and also the Downloads section will be updated often.
A Promise
On this site you will find no unexplained magical tricks, no fancy made up terminology, no assumptions about your level of knowledge.
I promise that if a word is used that is not immediately obvious in its meaning I will do my best to explain what it means, why it is used and how it relates to the 3D world.
What Is This Site For?
This site will do a few things.
Firstly it will force me to stop messing about and start learning properly, even if it only through the embarrassment of publilcy exhibiting how little I know and how much I need to learn. As I learn I will put a tutorial on the site showing what, how and why I am doing things, these will include the 'out takes' - what I did wrong, how I corrected it and why (if I can explain it).
Secondly, it will, I hope, prove a source of learning for the many other newbies out there who, like me, don't know what they're doing.
Thirdly it will act as yet another gateway into the myriad of 3D sites that exist out there in cyberland, software both free and commercial, content for any of the software packages, a guide to tutorial sites, a point of reference plug-ins and extensions, and last but by no means least a beginners community, where we can rail against all of these experts who make us feel so inadequate with their fabulous modelling skills. So, if you have any links that you'd like me to add, please feel free to drop me a line and I'll see what I can do. |
October 2006
The Blog area has been replaced with a new Downloads section. Only a small number of files in there at the moment, but this will increase.
